For the past two years, Emballator has been focusing on developing a new plastic material and has now created a product that matches their customer’s high expectations. The new material, called rPP Soft Grey, is 100 % recyclable. Beyond that the new material is also made of at least 90% recycled plastic and 75% comes from post consumer plastic waste.
“Our focus in the work process has been the environment and to create a circular economy. The purpose of the new material is to offer products that have both high quality- and safety standards, as well as minimized impact on the environment,” says Mats Jeppsson, Innovation Manager at Emballator Plastics & Innovation, and continues, “In comparison to the previously used fossil-based material, the new recyclable material decreases the carbon dioxide emissions, from the raw material to the finished product, by 56 percent.”
Due to the light shade of the material, it also provides an offset decoration that allows the customers to get their unique printing on the product without the need for a label.
“The advantages of rPP Soft Grey has influenced more customers to choose the new material. We are confident that a larger proportion of our customers will gradually switch to our recycled material rPP Soft Grey in 2021,” says Richard Johansson, Marketing- & Sales director at Emballator Lagan Plast.
Emballator has also made sure that transport emission and other extra packaging material, will not increase while using rPP Soft Grey. The recycled material will in the first step be launched towards the customers in the Paint segment but thanks to a low or no impact on the product characteristics the material can be used for many other product applications as well.
The launch of the new sustainable recycled plastic packaging’s is a part of Emballators’ increased focus on developing environment-friendly materials that is also excluding unnecessary waste. Emballator is constantly working to be one step ahead of the environmental challenges, to help its customers to improve their environmental performances.
