In Memoriam: TAPPI Fellow, Jon Kerr (2006)

Jonathan Charles Kerr of Loveland, Ohio passed away on November 17, 2021. He was the cherished husband of Denice Duane Kerr, devoted father of Emily (Nicholas) Keller and Andrew Kerr (Kimberly Wetzel), and caring grandfather of Theodore Jonathan Keller.
The youngest of three children, Jon was born to William Wallace Kerr III and Suzanne Wolcott Kerr on August 17, 1956 in Melbourne, Florida. He was blessed with a happy childhood and often shared memories of wonderful times with his family including world travels with his grandparents.
Jon attended Stetson University and University of Florida, graduating from the Paper Engineering program at Western Michigan University in 1982. He received his MBA from Xavier University in 1999. Jon’s passion for learning led him to a fulfilling career in pulp and paper. He was known across the industry not only for his expertise, but also for encouraging and elevating those around him. He was recognized for his many achievements and created lasting friendships all over the world. Jon committed himself to being a lifelong learner, not just in his formal studies but in the way he lived.
TAPPI appreciated Jon’s passion for the industry. He won the TAPPI’s Paper And Board Division Past Chairman (2002), Paper & Board Division Leadership and Service Award (2005) and the Herman L. Joachim Distinguished Service Award (2015). Over the years, he was part of many divisions and committees at TAPPI, including Women In Industry. He supported women and their leadership in pulp and paper.
Jon Kerr will be missed by many! His knowledge, involvement and presence remain unforgotten.
