Russia’s Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill to Invest $80 Million in Environmental Modernization This Year

The Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill (APPM), one of Russia’s leading pulp and paper producers, plans to invest about 5.8 billion rubles (US$80 million) in environmental modernization of its production in 2022, according to recent statements, made by the company and some local media reports.
The main goal of the planned modernization is to make production at the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill more environmentally friendly and minimize the impact on the environment.
Among the main tasks for the current year is the installation of new water-saving equipment in the turbine shop of TPP-1 and modernization of workshops, including the pulp production workshop of TPP-3. After the reconstruction, the enterprise will be able to reduce the volume of wastewater discharged by 11%.
The program for improving the environmental efficiency of the enterprise is designed until 2030. Its total cost is estimated at 18.2 billion rubles.
