Nippon Paper Industries announced that it has obtained Eco Rail Mark certification for its "patent-coated board" product.
Eco Rail Mark is a certification scheme established by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and operated by the Railway Freight Association. This ecolabel indicates certified products and companies that actively make an effort to protect the environment through a modal shift to rail transportation, which generates lower CO2 emissions.
Nippon Paper Industries has set up a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from product transportation through modal shift and other measures in the Nippon Paper Group Environmental Targets 2030 and has been engaged in a modal shift that switches the long-distance and mass transportation mode from trucks to railways and domestic ships. It obtained Eco Rail Mark certification as a company and for its products in the category of paper in August 2021.
Going forward, Nippon Paper Industries will continue working to build a logistics network with lower environmental impact.
