TAPPI Fellow Lyle J. Gordon was born in Rupert, Idaho, and peacefully passed away on March 29, 2022 in Everett, at the age of 95. Lyle graduated from Twin Falls (Idaho) high school, and earned a BS, MS, and PhD in Chemical Engineering at University of Washington. Lyle was a past TAPPI President and a TAPPI member since 1960. He worked at Scott Paper Company, rising to the role of VP of Research and Development. He married Gloria Moser in 1946, and they moved to Everett in 1953. His loved ones viewed him as the perfect combination of gentleness, compassion, wisdom, and humor with shear brilliance that made him so effective at whatever he attempted, whether he was working at one of his foundations, working with kids' ministry at church, planting his garden, or being the best grandpa. He will be deeply missed but remembered always by many. Lyle is survived by his children Robert, John (Michelle), and Gail (Dan) Dougherty, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. |
