Lucart, the multinational group famed for promoting a sustainable way of producing paper and known for its Tenderly, Tutto Pannocarta, Grazie Natural and Lucart Professional brands, has been given a “Platinum” rating by the independent agency EcoVadis. This is the highest rating level for business social responsibility. Only 1% of the over 90,000 companies analysed by Ecovadis worldwide can boast such a result.

The EcoVadis rating examines several aspects of sustainability, grouped into four themes: environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. The themes are based on international sustainability standards, like the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, the ISO 260004 standard, the CERES roadmap and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

“We are proud of this further major result earned through great teamwork in all our production sites on all aspects of sustainability,” said Massimo Pasquini, CEO of the Lucart Group. "With this recognition of excellence, Lucart is confirmed as one of the companies that best comply with the highest standards of transparency in the environmental, social and economic fields.”

The prestigious award is a fitting clinch of the company's efforts in recent years to promote a sustainable way of manufacturing paper. Since 2014, Lucart has reduced the specific CO2 and NOx emissions by 14.9% and 47%, respectively, and specific energy consumption by 13.2 %, with 80 % of waste being recovered. Specific water consumption decreased by 23.3% compared to 2013.

Lucart, a leading European manufacturer of tissue products (paper articles for daily use such as toilet paper, kitchen paper, napkins, tablecloths, handkerchiefs, etc.), airlaid and machine-glazed paper, was founded in 1953 by the Pasquini family. The company's product is spread over three business units (Business to Business, Away from Home and Consumer), engaged in the development and sale of products with brands such as Tenderly, Tutto, Grazie Natural and Smile (Consumer area) and Lucart Professional, Fato, Tenderly Professional, and Velo (Away from Home area).

Lucart's production capacity is over 395,000 tons/year of paper, on 12 paper machines.
