In Memoriam: TAPPI Technical Paper Author, Richard (Dick) T.E. Sylvester (1931 – 2022)

Longtime TAPPI member Richard T.E. “Dick” Sylvester, 80, of Spring Grove, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022. Hans was active in TAPPI’s Extrusion Coating Committee and Ohio Local Section.
He was born August 2, 1942, in Aachen, Germany. Dick was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the early, military-advisor days of the Vietnam War. He went on to enjoy a long career as a top research engineer for LyondellBasell Industries.
Dick traveled all over the world and met wonderful friends along the way. He was a very kind man and loved all his many rescued dogs. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Carol Ann (nee Gendusa).
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dick’s name to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or American Veterans (AMVETS) is appreciated.
