Runtech Systems will supply a vacuum system rebuild to Norske Skog Golbey PM1 in France. The delivery includes eight RunEco EP600 Turbo Blowers with EcoDrop water separators and two low vacuum blowers. With the new RunEco vacuum system, PM1 will gain significant energy and water savings.
All existing liquid ring pumps are dismantled and the Turbo Blowers will be installed on the same premises, without a need for any extra building. Delivery also includes installation supervision with Runtech’s own skilled personnel and a full training program in French for operators, maintenance and technical personnel.
Upgrading the vacuum system is a part of a major rebuild where Voith converts the newsprint machine into a state-of-the-art machine with two shoe presses. After the conversion, PM1 will produce 550,000 tons per year of fluting/liner and becomes the biggest machine in France. Startup is scheduled for the second half of 2023.
“We are delighted to replace our 30 years old water ring pumps by new and more efficient turbo blowers. Not only, we can stop the high attention water closed loop cooling tower, but mainly we will reduce significantly our electricity consumption to produce our vacuum need. This decision was made when the electricity price was still low, but now we are glad we have made such move,” says Thierry Dubois, PM1 Production Manager, Norske Skog Golbey.
“Our EP Turbo Blowers are ideal for rebuilds as they are compact and easy to install. With today’s energy challenges and the aim to lower carbon footprint it is even more important that they are very economical to own and operate,” says Mario Battiston, Sales Manager, Runtech Systems.
Environmentally friendly and energy efficient, RunEco vacuum system provides a reliable, completely water free vacuum solution. Less energy and no water contribute to lower CO2 emissions and smaller environmental footprint. EP Turbo Blowers are always variable speed and capacity, which allows the vacuum system to be optimized quickly without bleed air and with minimal throttling and expansion losses. With integrated high-speed motor controlled by a frequency converter, rotation speed and vacuum level can be adjusted according to the process requirements.
