Richard Lopes of L&M Corrugated Container Corp Passes

Richard "Dick" Robert Lopes, age 93, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 17, 1929, in New Bedford, MA, the son of Antone Sears and Carolina Marie (Silva) Lopes. Richard attended Stonington High School and graduated in 1947. Upon graduation, he enlisted into the United States Air force, serving his country from September 8, 1948, until his honorable discharge in 1954. On June 5, 1954, Richard was united in marriage to Patricia Lee Siegler in Belleville, IL. After their marriage, he was employed with National Container making corrugated packaging. In 1979 he founded L&M Corrugated Container Corporation. In 2007, Richard retired and moved to Lancaster. Richard dearly loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed flying, golfing, playing cards, especially cribbage and poker
Survivors include his children: Pam Hoffman; Richard A. (Deborah) Lopes; Steven R. (Pat) Lopes; Terry (Michael) DeHamer; Cynthia Corbett; 10 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; his brother, John (Linda) Lopes; 10 nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia on May 11, 1994; his siblings: Vivian (Richard) Schenberger, Lorraine Burridge, and Raymond Lopes.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Father William Vernon officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
