The Process Engineer will provide oversight and troubleshooting support to the dissolving wood pulp and kraft pulp production business including utilities and recovery, and help maintain a safe, environmentally sound, and efficient operation to achieve maximum quality production at minimum cost.
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide Process Engineer support to the Pulp Business Group including:
- Assure and contribute to a safe work environment.
- Ensure that all environmental commitments are stricttly adhered to.
- Support day to day operations.
- Support and assure continued Environmental, Health/Safety, and Quality ISO certification compliance.
- Develop, execute, evaluate and report on trials for product development, process improvement, and product enhancement
- Provide data analysis to support customer complaint evaluations, monthly and quarterly reports.
- Support process troubleshooting and optimization efforts.
- Make recommendations for LSS efforts and process improvements. Lead LSS teams.
- Provide process improvement training to operations personnel.
- Support all areas of the Pulp Business including wood room, fiberline, bleach plant, pulp dryer, recovery, recausticizing and plant utilities.
Requirements
- A minimum of bachelors in engineering is required. BS in Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper Science preferred.
- Prior pulp experience preferred.
- Computer knowledge – background in Microsoft suite, Proficy, etc... strongly preferred.
- Understanding of human relations and supervision in an organized labor environment.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results through peopleExperience with Lean Six Sigma and/or dissolving pulp a plus.

With the conversion, the pulp mill is now able to swing between dissolving wood pulp and Kraft pulp based on market needs. With a focus on responsible and sustainable operations, the Cloquet Mill is focused on energy savings improvements which have led to local, state, and national environmental recognition.
