MM Board & Paper announced that it has concluded discussions with employee representatives at its pulp and paper mill in Poland, MM Kwidzyn, and made a decision to close PM3 -- a packaging kraft paper machine.

PM3 is one of three paper machines at the mill.

As a result of this decision, the production of IPACK™ ESSENTIAL, IPACK™ BROWN and IPACK™ ULTRA packaging kraft papers will be discontinued, the company said.

The last production run on the PM3 will take place in early January 2024, the company added.

In a press release MM Board & Paper said, "We recognize that this is a difficult situation for both the employees affected and the entire workforce. We do everything we can to find optimal solutions and limit the extent of the impact on employees as much as possible."

The company emphasized that the Kwidzyn mill will continue to produce pulp and fresh fiber board (FBB). In terms of paper production, the PM1 and PM2 paper machines will continue to produce uncoated fine papers and IPACK Strong Pro (packaging kraft paper).
