As consumers and regulatory agencies continue to push for sustainable packaging solutions that minimize environmental impact, the demand for eco-friendly additives is rapidly increasing.
Additives are playing an important role for packaging manufacturers, providing barrier protection, shelf-life extension, and even contributing to the package’s overall aesthetics. Featured as part of the comprehensive, peer-reviewed technical program at TAPPI’s FlexPack PLACE, April 14-17, 2024 in San Diego, CA, are two in-depth sessions dedicated to additives.
“The incorporation of additives in flexible packaging can deliver novel solutions with a high degree of customization,” said Ankush Gokhale, Conference Chair and Chair of Session 5: Additives – Little Things do Big Jobs. “Those attending will learn how additives impart functional benefits for end-use applications.”
During this session, attendees will hear from representatives from LyondellBasell, Smart Planet Technologies Inc and NOVA Chemicals as they address how additives are used to impact seal integrity, mineral fillers that are used to reduce plastic use, as well as the effect of polyethylene seals and additives on how food is experienced through the senses.
The conversation on additives will continue during Session 7 on April 16 with a focus on the use of novel additives to improve the performance of polyethylene resins. Discussions will focus on how additives are being used to improve barrier performance in HDPE and the ongoing search for PFAS-free PPAs. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear the latest from Milliken, Shell Polymers and Baerlocher.
