This virtual course, happening December 3-5, 2024, is hosted by NC State University and has been uniquely tailored for the pulp, paper, and related industries. 

The three-day workshop will equip you with advanced tools for analyzing capital investments, understanding global industry dynamics, evaluating business operations, estimating financial outcomes, and driving strategic decision-making in the pulp and paper industry.  

This workshop is especially beneficial for:

  • Managers at pulp and paper mills and forest product conversion facilities
  • Sales and service personnel aiming to present their ideas to customers and management
  • Managers seeking to comprehend the financial outcomes of process improvements and capital investments
  • Research and development engineers and scientists looking to estimate the potential financial impact of their research

Learn new skills that you can apply immediately:

Basic skills:

  • Build a complete financial analysis from scratch
  • Perform cash flow valuation and capital budgeting analysis
  • Understand investment rules
  • Become familiar with financial indicators: net present value, internal rate of return, EBITDA, payback, ROI, ROCE

Complex skills:

  • Benchmark your business against world-class operations
  • Understand cost analysis, profit planning and exposure to volume/price risks: categorizing costs to make better decisions, determining break-even levels of quantity, price, and cost
  • Understand the economics and cost structure of tissue mills, recycled paperboard mills, and pulp mill operations

Participants of the workshop are not required to have a business or financial background.
