TAPPI’s Nano Division is organizing a new webinar designed to give you strategies for improving the optical and photonic properties of wood, which can result in the formation of composites with enhanced transparency and light emission ability. This one-hour event will also focus on possible applications of optical and photonic wood materials including energy saving, energy conversion and environmental sensing.
Historically, wood-light interaction studies have been focused on the investigation of photodegradation mechanisms (and strategies to counteract it) or the development of spectroscopic analytical techniques. However, the careful exploitation of wood’s unique anisotropic hierarchical structure and composition can open enticing opportunities for the design and production of sustainable optical and photonic materials.
