Metsä Group Reshuffles Executive Team, Appoints New Strategy Chief

Metsä Group has announced significant changes to its Executive Management Team, effective March 1, 2025.
Esa Kaikkonen, formerly CEO of Metsä Tissue, has been appointed as the new Executive Vice President of Strategy for Metsä Group. Simultaneously, Sari Pajari-Sederholm, the previous EVP of Strategy, will take over as CEO of Metsä Tissue.
Ilkka Hämälä, President and CEO of Metsä Group, emphasized the benefits of this job rotation, stating, "When experienced professionals move to new roles, they can offer new perspectives, strengthening our decision-making and deepening our expertise. This makes us better equipped to meet challenges more effectively."
This reshuffle comes amidst other recent changes in Metsä Group's leadership. Earlier this year, the company announced the appointment of Jussi Vanhanen as the new CEO of Metsäliitto Cooperative and President and CEO of Metsä Group, set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
The updated Executive Management Team now includes:
