This year, the Syracuse Pulp and Paper Foundation Inc., Syracuse, N.Y., USA, will celebrate 50 years of helping recruit and educate bright young people for the pulp, paper, and affiliated industries. During the past half century, nearly one thousand State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) paper graduates have benefitted from the $3.5 million given by the foundation in scholarships.
Celebration events will begin on Friday, October 15, at Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Syracuse University) with a golf outing at 10 am. Later that evening, the Beater Rat's Ball will provide an opportunity to reminisce and socialize with alumni, faculty, and students. On the following Saturday and Sunday, October 16 – 17, special activities are planned for the ESF Alumni and Friends Weekend. It's Syracuse University's homecoming, with the football team playing Pittsburg in the Carrier Dome. Kick-off will be celebrated at the Walters Hall tailgate party, hosted by the Paper and Bioprocess Engineering students. Further information is available on the SUNY ESF website.
