The keynote address at the twenty-third Process Industry Reliability & Maintenance (PIRM) Conference being co-located with PaperCon May 2-5 in Atlanta will be delivered by Robert (Bob) Taylor, CEO of Neucel Specialty Cellulose. Titled "The Reliability Paradox -- Understanding the Basic Causes and Means to Resolve," Taylor's presentation will explore recent and emerging trends in paper industry R&M practices. Specifically, he will examine and analyze how the reliability paradox can develop at today's pulp and paper mills and what some companies are doing to successfully overcome it.
Taylor joined Neucel as CEO in November 2007 with more than 25 years of industry manufacturing experience. Prior to Neucel, he spent one year as VP of Operations for the Building Products Division of Armstrong World Industries where the reliability focus established during that period at all of its U.S. plants continues to bring outstanding business results to the bottom line. Bob spent three years as VP of Manufacturing for Sappi Fine Papers North America where, in addition to having responsibility for operations at all the company's facilities, he was also responsible for Wood Procurement, Pulp Sales, Corporate Engineering, and Capital Planning. Prior to that, Taylor served in several manufacturing leadership positions encompassing several different pulp and paper businesses during a 23-year career with International Paper Co., finishing as VP of Manufacturing Systems for the Printing and Communications Division in 2003.
