Market pulp production added up to 1,571,000 metric tons, with a 9% increase over the previous year. Board production gained 5%, amounting to 701,000 metric tons. Paper output decreased by 3%, equaling 198,000 metric tons. Overall pulp "cooking" grew by 5% from the amounts cooked in 2009 and reached 2,636,000 tons.
Paul Herbert, CEO of Ilim Group, noted that "2010 was definitely an outstanding year for Ilim Group. International Paper, Memphis, Tenn., USA, is a strategic partner of Ilim Group with 50% of its shares. The company's business assets in the Leningrad, Arkhangelsk, and Irkutsk Oblasts are the largest mills in the Russian forest products industry, accounting for more than 65% of the total pulp production in Russia and more than 25% of the Russian board production. Ilim Group employs more than 20,000 people.
