CPI Launches PaperWorks Multimedia Schools Resource

The Confederation of Paper Industries, U.K., has launched its PaperWorks, a revision of industry-based education material for schools. PaperWorks provides teachers with a range of curriculum-linked learning resources that fit with modern classroom teaching techniques and facilities, and supports the industry's aim to counter some of the common misconceptions of what has become one of the most sustainable and forward-thinking industries in the U.K., CPI notes.

The PaperWorks website features downloadable whiteboard presentations, teaching notes, and worksheets. The Study Area also includes paper production and recycling projects, interesting facts and figures on the industry, and some useful background information. Through the use of videos, PaperWorks helps students connect curriculum theory to the real world.

PaperWorks consists of four packs:

Through Art and Design and Science and Technology at the primary level, PaperWorks is designed to engage pupils in a fun exploration of paper. It helps pupils learn all about paper; its versatility, how it is used every day, and introduces the importance of recycling. At the secondary level, PaperWorks supports elements of the curriculum for GCSE and A Level for business studies and at KS3 and GCSE for geography. In particular, it helps students understand how the U.K. Paper Industry is a modern and sustainable industry with strong environmental credentials.

The new resource including presentations, worksheets, and supporting teaching notes, is available online.
