"This mill has been part of Fernandina Beach for 75 years. RockTenn is thrilled to join this community via the May 2011 acquisition of Smurfit Stone and to be a partner in bringing natural gas to the island's residents and businesses," said Jim Porter, president, Corrugated Packaging and Recycling at RockTenn. "At the mill, converting to natural gas helps ensure our competitive market position and ultimately that means stable RockTenn jobs here in Fernandina Beach."
TECO Peoples Gas recognized representatives from RockTenn, the city of Fernandina Beach, and Nassau County for their partnership on the project.
"We are proud to work with RockTenn to bring natural gas to this area," said Bruce Narzissenfeld, VP of Business Development for Peoples Gas. "RockTenn is known for being a respected and valued contributor to the community, and this conversion to natural gas is another example of their innovation and leadership. Now, the efficiency, reliability, and environmental benefits of natural gas will be available for the residents and businesses in Fernandina Beach and Nassau County to enjoy."
