In the Spotlight - William L. Cullison Scholarship Winner Cayle Machek
My name is Cayle Machek and I am currently a senior at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., studying paper science and chemical engineering. I studied abroad during the fall 2010 semester in Tampere, Finland, at the Tampere University of Applied Sciences, taking classes in paper science. During the 2011 spring semester, I studied in Munich, Germany, at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, taking classes in chemical engineering and paper science.
I will graduate in May 2013 with three degrees: a paper science degree from N.C. State, a chemical engineering degree from N.C. State, and an international paper science degree from one of the international universities. I have had experience working as an intern for International Paper in Riegelwood, N.C., during the summer of 2010. I have also worked for two months as an intern for Ahlstrom in Osnabruck, Germany. This summer, I will begin my internship for Ashland in Appleton, Wis., USA.
I enjoy singing, playing guitar, studying the Bible, traveling, running, biking, swimming, and anything that involves being outdoors. I love spending time at the beach and would love to live there someday. When I graduate, I am looking forward to obtaining a job in the paper industry.
