Södra's mill in Tofte is one of Norway's biggest producers of chemical pulp. Some 70% of production goes to export, the rest to the Norwegian market. Södra Cell in Tofte is a high-technology plant and has made substantial investments in developing employee competence as well as in collaborating with universities.
The Tofte mill became part of the Södra Group in 2000. Much of the pulp produced at Tofte is based on wood from eucalyptus and is used mainly for fine papers.
