Paper Science & Engineering Students Awarded Leadership Scholarships

The Paper Science & Engineering Foundation at Miami University, Ohio, recently awarded eight Bob and Barbara Williams Leadership Scholarships to students in the paper science and engineering curriculum who demonstrate superior leadership, creativity, and academic achievements. These prestigious awards are full tuition scholarships. Recipients of these highly competitive awards were selected by a committee comprised of engineering faculty and Paper Science & Engineering Foundation staff.

The 2013-14 winners are (l-r in the top row below): John Baron, a senior majoring in chemical engineering with a concentration in paper science; Lindsey Berning, a junior majoring in chemical engineering with a concentration in paper science; Lauren Bracken, a May 2013 chemical engineering-paper science graduate and current master’s student; Daniel Ferriell, a junior majoring in chemical engineering with a concentration in paper science and a minor in mathematics; (l-r in the bottom row below) Nathan Hartman, a senior majoring in chemical engineering with a concentration in paper science and a minor in mechanical engineering; Emma Lipscomb, a sophomore majoring in chemical engineering with a concentration in paper science; Kelley McGill, a senior majoring in chemical engineering with dual concentrations in paper science and biochemical; and Jessica Schmidt, a senior majoring in chemical engineering with a concentration in Paper Science.

The scholarships are provided through the generosity of The Bob and Barbara Williams Foundation. Mr. Williams, now retired, has been a force in the global pulp and paper industry as co-founder of the James River Corp. His impact continues to be felt through his encouragement of high leadership standards for graduating engineers.
