Based on proprietary research, MWV said it learned that consumers frequently encounter an issue with their to-go food packaging soaking up oil and grease from their meal. In fact, 26% of consumers frequently encounter this issue and 59% said it was a major annoyance. EnShield kit 5 was developed to offer brand owners an opportunity to improve consumer satisfaction for food packaging with the right barrier protection while meeting corporate sustainability goals. The paperboard is fully repulpable and recyclable, improving packaging end-of-life options versus traditional poly-coated boards, MWV adds.
"Consumer product companies and food service operators make significant investments in developing foods that consumers will love, and packaging can serve as an important extension of those brands," said William Kuecker, director of marketing, MWV. "EnShield kit 5 protects the integrity of packaged and to-go foods, leading to a better consumer experience, and also offers a new sustainable alternative to traditional poly-coated paperboard."
