TAPPI member Jon Humphrey became a baseball fan only after serving as a volunteer leader for the Big League Baseball World Series (BLBWS) in Easely, S.C., USA. But he’s been a big fan of TAPPISAFE ever since its debut last year.
Jon describes TAPPISAFE as forward-thinking, noting that it is the only contractor orientation developed for and by the pulp and paper industry, and "an excellent example of TAPPI’s commitment to all members, both suppliers and producers."
In part, the program provides a means to complete OSHA required safety awareness-level orientation and site specific safety orientation before mill visits. As the customer support service manager for Sulzer Pumps Solutions, Jon speaks knowledgeably about supplier-side issues. He notes that he and his company have benefited from numerous TAPPI educational programs and training events through the years. "TAPPI membership is more than carrying another membership card," he says.
