Sonoco Acquires Dalton Paper Products
Sonoco, Hartsville, S.C., USA, has acquired Dalton Paper Products (DPP), Dalton, Ga., which will become part of Sonoco’s Paper and Industrial Converted Products business segment. As part of combining the two businesses, the existing Dalton management team and employees remain intact.
The existing DPP manufacturing facility will also remain as Sonoco expects to move personnel and any necessary equipment into the Dalton plant for purposes of increasing production capability. Sonoco has been operating in Dalton for many years, which brings the combined organizations presence to 68 years in the community. Altogether Sonoco will have 66 employees in the Dalton area.
"Sonoco started as a family-owned business in Hartsville, S.C., a town much like Dalton, 115 years ago," said Rodger Fuller, group VP, Paper and Industrial Converted Products, North America. "We share the same beliefs and small town family values as Dalton, which makes this such a great fit from a cultural standpoint, as well as our general philosophy of doing business, working with our employees and supporting our communities."
James Harrell, Sonoco VP, Tubes and Cores, North America, added that "we will be better and stronger together and this joining of the best capabilities of both companies will allow us to grow and continue to invest to support our customers. Our goal is to make this transition as smooth and as seamless as possible for our customers, our employees, and their families."
The Dalton Paper Products facility produces convolute and spiral wound recycled-paper tubes and cores serving the carpet and textile industries. Sonoco is a global provider of tubes and cores serving the paper, film, textile, and tape and specialty markets.
