Nipon Starts Cellulose Powder Production Operation
Nippon Paper Industries Co., Japan, reports that its new cellulose powder production facility at the Hokkaido Yufutsu Mill (Tomakomai-shi, Hokkaido) began commercial operations this week. Cellulose powder is a stable and very safe substance, the company notes.
Nippon is a leading domestic producer of cellulose powder, supplying the product to a range of businesses from the food and health food sector to the industrial sector. Completed at a cost of 1.6 billion yen, this new facility aims to expand the business domain that is expected to increase strongly in demand, to boost profitability while ensuring a stable supply of products.
The commencement of this line brings the total number of the company's production lines to four—two in the Hokkaido Mill and two in the Gotsu Mill (Gotsu-shi, Shimane Prefecture)—which will also ensure its advantageous position in terms of business continuity in the event of an emergency.
This facility will play a role in strengthening the non-paper business of Nippon Paper Industries, as it continues to evolve as a comprehensive biomass company.
