The TAPPI NET division will host a webinar, Crosslinking Resin Chemistry for Nonwoven and Paper Applications, on Tuesday, August 19, at 12:00 p.m. EST. This webinar, presented by John Jacquin, new business development manager at Ineos Melamines, is presented by the division’s Binders & Additives Committee and is free to attend.
This presentation will focus on the chemistry of thermoset resin crosslinkers used in nonwoven and paper applications. In particular, amino resins, including urea-formaldehyde and melamine-formaldehyde resins, as well as phenol-formaldehyde resins will be discussed. The key attributes of crosslinking the latex resin will be reviewed. The general advantages and disadvantages of the thermoset systems with respect to binding and coating applications will be compared.
Presenter John Jacquin is currently a new business development manager at INEOS Melamines. Jacquin has more than 34 years of experience providing technical expertise for resin, crosslinker, and additive chemistry for industrial applications. John gained his technical experience and market knowledge at several inter-related companies: Monsanto, Solutia, UCB, and Cytec. He has provided product development support to customers in coating, ink, adhesive, binder, and specialty markets, and supported dozens of new product commercial launches in a variety of market applications.
During his career Jacquin has managed several application labs in the Americas, developed corporate stage-gate management tools, and provided market and value chain assessment in support of business development. He is an active TAPPI member on the Binders & Additives Committee, Building Sciences Committee, and NET Division Council. He participates regularly in the NETInc (Innovative Nonwovens Conference) as a presenter and session chair and has jointly authored 24 peer-reviewed technical papers or presentations.
