Papierfabrik Scheufelen to Shut Down One Paper Machine
Papierfabrik Scheufelen, Lenningen, Germany, reports that the declining consumption of graphic paper is forcing it to reduce production capacity from 300,000 metric tpy to 140,000 metric tpy. As a result, one paper machine and its associated equipment will be idled in the near future, the company notes.
Papierfabrik Scheufelen belongs to the Paper Excellence Group, which is based in the Netherlands. Scheufelen’s strategy is to increase the share of premium and high end papers and extend the leading market position of coated premium papers globally. In the meantime, all existing supply and other commitments will be honored, and Papierfabrik Scheufelen and LIG are looking forward to working in close collaboration with all stakeholders with a view to achieving a long-term sustainable business plan for the company.
