G-P’s Monticello, Miss., Mill Awards $10,000 to Local Hospital
Georgia-Pacific, Atlanta, Ga., USA, reports that its Monticello, Miss., mill has presented a grant of $10,000 to the Lawrence County, Miss., Hospital, part of the company’s ongoing commitment to safety and strengthening quality of life in the local community. This grant will go toward implementing a Community Health Assessment Needs program, which will include health screenings for the community and include heart, lung, and stroke screenings.

Ross said that "these screenings will be offered monthly through our clinic at a discounted fee to the community. These low-cost screenings are an affordable way to recommend health services and information to the community. Routine health checks can help find problems early, when the chances for treatment and a cure are better. This grant from Georgia-Pacific will greatly supplement this program and will be a great benefit to the citizens of Lawrence County."
G-P’s Monticello mill produces linerboard in various grades and weights for domestic and export box plants. The mill was founded in 1968 and acquired by GP in 1984. As Lawrence County’s largest manufacturing employer, Monticello Containerboard employs approximately 450 direct jobs and 1,800 indirect jobs in Monticello and the surrounding communities.
