Vajda Papír Kft, Hungary, has installed a new high-capacity tissue converting line at its facility in Drammen, Norway, which it acquired last year. The EUR 4.3 million line doubles the unit’s converting capacity, and follows a similar converting capacity expansion at the company’s plant in Budapest. Together the two expansions increase the company’s finished tissue product capacity by 15%, to 120,000 metric tpy.

 

At Drammen, owned 100% by individual Hungarian investors, the new converting line will more than double the plant’s converting capacity from the current 16,000 – 17,000 metric tpy to 35,000 metric tpy, according to a RISI (Brussels, Belgium) news report. The newly converting line includes state of the art tissue converting technology and is capable of producing premium tissue products. The expansion in Norway increased the plant’s employment by 20%, to more than 100 employees.

 

The HUF 1.8 billion Soroksár, Budapest, expansion in Hungary involved the installation of two new, high-capacity converting lines, increasing the plant’s total number of lines to 22, RISI reported. It upped the plant’s finished tissue products capacity by some 10%, to 80,000+ metric tpy, and raised the employee count by 20 new jobs to a total of 410.
