Australian Forest Products Industry Grows at 11.9% CAGR, 2009-2013


The forest products industry in Australia had total revenues of $15.5 billion in 2013, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.9% between 2009 and 2013, according to a new report by MarketLine titled Forest Products in Australia. The forest products industry consists of industrial roundwood, sawnwood, wood panels and sheets, and wood fuels. It excludes "roundwood," i.e., trees after harvesting but before significant processing. It also excludes pulp, paper, paperboard, and similar downstream products.

The Australian forest products industry consumption volumes declined with a compound annual rate of change (CARC) of -2.5% between 2009 and 2013, to reach a total of 32.5 million cubic meters in 2013. The performance of the industry is forecast to decelerate, with an anticipated CAGR of 2.7% for the five-year period 2013 - 2018, which is expected to drive the industry to a value of $17.8 billion by the end of 2018.
