It is with great sadness that TAPPI, the industry, and UMaine Alumni Association announce the recent passing of former Associate Dean of Student Activities and Organizations at the University of Maine, William "Bill" Lucy.

Bill earned his education doctorate at the university in 1971, and subsequently served UMaine for 25 years, until his retirement in 1996. He participated in countless committee activities, and developed and taught courses in scuba diving and outdoor education and recreation.

Bill leaves behind his five children and 17 grandchildren. His obituary in the Bangor Daily News, Bangor, Maine, USA, can be found online. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. this Saturday at the Parish of the Resurrection in Old Town, Maine.
