IP Donates $2.25 Million to Mississippi State University for New Controls Lab
International Paper, Memphis, Tenn., USA, has given $2.25 million to Mississippi State University to establish an endowment for a faculty chair within the school’s James Worth Bagley College of Engineering and to create a new controls laboratory in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, according to an article in yesterday's (August 26) Mississippi Business Journal (Oxford, Miss.).
SVP Tommy Joseph, a 1982 MSU graduate, announced the gift to the school on Monday. He says by partnering with the university, IP hopes to leverage the school’s program and the company’s resources to continue to recruit "the best and brightest students and faculty from across the country."
The Bagley College currently offers 10 undergraduate degrees through its eight academic departments. In addition, the college offers 21 master’s and doctoral degrees. The university added that U.S. News and World Report (Washington, D.C.) ranks the college’s programs in the top 100 nationwide.
