TAPPI Industry Career Center: Interface Performance Materials Seeks Electrical Engineer
Interface Performance Materials is seeking an experienced leader to join its engineering team. This position requires working with the manufacturing, engineering, and technology professionals to increase manufacturing and operational consistencies and efficiencies.
Job Responsibilities:
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for engineering support for all facility processes including design and maintenance of all IFIX systems, PLC’s, drives, controls, and programs.
Additional duties will include:
- Participates in the improvement/updates, implementation and operation of an effective preventative and predictive maintenance program in order to minimize plant downtime and labor cost
- Responsible for electrical engineering projects
- Responsible for the design, fabrication, and installation and testing of electrical controls systems
- Makes recommendations that will increase productivity and efficiencies in Maintenance
- Provides and recommends training and skill enhancements necessary to develop advanced troubleshooting skills and systems
- Ensure compliance with safety and maintenance procedures and practices
- Assist electrical personnel with troubleshooting and repairing all production/facilities equipment
- Investigates equipment and software problems/requirements and makes improvement recommendations to ensure availability and reliability
- Recommends E&I shop priorities and schedules to meet the needs of production, maintenance, and the general plant
- Utilize hands-on field troubleshooting and state of the art PLC and iFIX interfaces, instrument and electrical systems, to efficiently locate and correct problems
- Assists the Maintenance Manager/Plant Electrical Engineer in identifying and defining critical issues during the planning, implementation, and production of new processes or capabilities
- Assists in developing project plans and estimating resources and capital required for implementation.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate will combine a strong technical background with the ability to both perform and excel at project management to increase production stability in our facilities. It is also important that the Electrical Engineer display excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus the ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors, as well as individuals at multiple levels of the organization, including technical, sales, and manufacturing personnel.
Specific qualifications for the role include:
- Associates degree in electrical engineering with a minimum of five years of related experience
- Knowledge of AC and DC motor drives, Allen Bradley PLCs (Micrologix, PLC5, SLC500, ContolLogix), iFIX, PanelView Plus, and HMI programming
- Excellent oral and written communication and computer skills
- PLC ladder logic programming ability.
