UPM Creates Brighter New Sol Designed for Printed Material to Shine
The UPM (Finland) UPM Sol family of paper has "renewed itself" as the company described on Tuesday (May 5) via press release. UPM Sol is a premium coated mechanical sheet-fed grade with a blue-white shade designed to be known for its high optical brightness levels. The company has now introduced an enhanced version of the paper pushing its brightness even higher. The new UPM Sol is available in gloss, silk, and matt surface.
UPM Sol is an ideal paper for such noted end-uses as books, brochures, catalogs, direct, mailing, promotional material, inserts, magazines, and manuals. The paper is available in 60-100 gsm. All Sol papers have been awarded the EU Ecolabel. FSC and PEFC are available on request, but subject to availability.
UPM Sol's further improved brightness properties add more contrast and intensity to texts, colors, and images. Sol papers have a unique combination of high brightness and excellent opacity.
The company said it is proud to present a unique, new coated mechanical sheet-fed grade with a matt surface and an exceptional bulk of 1.2, UPM Sol plus, as the sole supplier of such a grade. This opens wider views in special and standard graphic end-uses for CMS matt papers such as book publishing and meets the company's desire for the Sol's full range of different surfaces and bulk levels. It offers a solution for versatile ideas in countless end uses and new creativeness. It is styled to give printed material a substantial feel without adding weight.
"We recognized a clear demand for high brightness, high performance papers with different bulk levels as well as touch and feel in relatively low substances. With UPM Sol plus added to the UPM Sol family, this is now possible due to the outstanding bulk level. That is why we are excited to present the new both brighter and bulkier UPM Sol family," said Anke Böckmann, a product portfolio manager in the Merchants, Home & Office division of UPM.
