Ziegler Papier Closes Fine/Specialty Paper Mill in Switzerland
As announced at the beginning of this year, Ziegler Papier AG has ceased production of fine and special papers at the Grellingen plant in Switzerland, and has permanently closed its doors. The decision to discontinue production was taken because of persisting over-capacities, the negative exchange rate situation, and the major price pressure as a result.
The owner and managing director of the paper mill based in the Canton of Basel-Landschaft, Isabel Frey Kuttler, told EUWID Pulp and Paper that only sheets production was taking place on site at the moment. All customer orders will be filled by the middle/end of May.
The cessation of business at Ziegler Papier has affected around 100 employees. The closure of the PM will remove up to 72,000 tpy from the market. Ziegler mainly produced papers for graphic applications, including lightweight printing paper and inkjet paper as well as release liner, according to EUWID.
