Fantastak Launches Improved Manufacturing Process for SuperDiscs

Fantastak Ltd, U.K., a developer and manufacturer of glue dots and supplier of niche adhesive products, has been supplying SuperDiscs since 1999, distributing millions of these transparent adhesive circular discs all over the world. The production team has been working hard behind the scenes to improve the manufacturing process, which will provide their customers with more flexibility of the shape, size, quantity, and adhesive properties they need for a specific job.

SuperDiscs are popular with the packaging industry, used for closures on boxes and cello bags and securing bellybands, which are FDA and ISEGA approved for direct contact with food and pharmaceuticals; and they are acid and lignin free. For the retail, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food industries SuperDiscs provide a simple solution to demonstrate their product hasn’t been tampered with or contaminated.

SuperDiscs can also be used for sealing boxes, bags, and gift wrap at the till and are used for finishing the wrapping of goods at the counter in retail shops or for e-commerce outlets before the item is sent out for distribution, such as with products wrapped in tissue paper or the sealing of gift bags. SuperDiscs are ideal for these discreet closures and can be used on branded packaging without compromising the design.

They are also used for promotional items such as direct mail, CD cases, and bags. When the edges of mailers or promotional items need sealing, SuperDiscs are ideal. Some of their customers prefer using the perforated discs on mailers for ease of opening by the end user and so the surface of the design isn’t compromised. Whereas, some of their customers like to use the plain discs. Fantastak’s Account Managers are on hand to advise which discs would be best for a specific job.

SuperDiscs are available in permanent or peelable adhesive in standard stock sizes of 18 mm, 25 mm, 34 mm, and 50 mm. All standard disc sizes are presented plain on the roll; however, the 25 mm, 34 mm, and 50mm discs are also offered with a perforation running across the center. They are clean, quick, safe, discreet, and have an immediate bond that can be applied by hand or machine, such as the Lynx Tabber.

Fantastak now is able to manufacture the SuperDiscs in shapes other than discs, depending on the needs of the customer. The company has invested in new equipment that allows it to be flexible in shape and size at the production stage. Just send in your design and Fantastak will work with you to develop a SuperDisc to your specific requirements. So if you want a four leaf clover, a hexagon, oblong or square SuperDisc, ask the company for a quote.

Fantastak has the ability to provide different sizes too—for example, if the 18 mm SuperDisc is too small and the 25 mm SuperDisc is too big, the company can create a size in-between to fit your needs.

"This is an exciting development here at Fantastak. This new technology allows us to be much more flexible in meeting our customer’s needs," said Paul Simpson, technical director, Fantastak.

Discs can also be printed on, be opaque, and can come in a variety of colors. Minimum orders are required for bespoke products.
