On Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, a serious workplace accident occurred at Valmet's customer site in Virginia, USA. Valmet is currently completing a rebuild project at WestRock's Covington mill. An employee of Valmet's subcontractor was severely injured and died.

"Valmet is committed to protecting the health, safety and environment (HSE) of our employees, customers, partners, and the communities where we operate. After this very unfortunate accident, our thoughts are with the deceased's family and colleagues. We have informed the personnel working with the project on site and are providing them the needed support. Investigation of the accident has been started together with the customer and the authorities," said Jeff Braunwart, HSE manager, North America from Valmet.
