Price Chopper Grocery Stores to Offer New Simply Done Wax Paper
According to a report this week by the
Times Union (Albany, N.Y., USA), some Price Chopper (a subsidiary of Golub. Corp,
Schenectady, N.Y.) store brand household products are coming off shelves, replaced with items including a new wax paper line produced and potentially soon sold nationwide after first being offered to the public by a large collective network of major Northeastern U.S. grocery store retailers.

Price Chopper's move to the Simply Done brand for household paper products follows a campaign launched this spring to upgrade in-store brands under its PICS label at Price Chopper. It is planned for an initial launch at 32 stores.
Pictured below: Wax paper is suggested for use in online recipes for everything from serving watermelon slices to the more traditional use in buffalo wings. The online cooking culture and sharing of recipes related to what's available at restaurants and how to best serve organic and healthy foods may be showing an increased demand for a rejuvenated home use of wax paper, as indicated by the newly increased marketing / availability of this paper product by the nation's largest grocery store collective.
Simply Done is a subsidiary label producer owned by Topco Associates (Chicago, Ill., USA), a $15 billion, privately held company that is currently reported as the largest purchasing group for U.S. grocery store chains. In addition to household paper products, the group produces meats and produce, as well as grocery, dairy, baker, and frozen food items.

Price Chopper is a member of that same collective, as are such chains as Wegmans, Winn-Dixie, Piggly Wiggly, Meijer, Giant Eagle, and Tops. Some Simply Done products are already re-labeled and being sold nationwide, and in the Northeast, are also sold by Giant Eagle, King Kullen, and Roche Brothers.
"We have been a member of Topco for several decades now," said Mona Golub, spokeswoman for Price Chopper supermarkets. "Being part of a purchasing collective gives us access to a greater scale and greater buying power. That means a more innovative assortment of high-quality products for our customers."
Price Chopper, owned by the Golub Corp., has more than 130 stores in New York, New England, and Pennsylvania.
