TAPPI Career Center: Andritz Automation seeks Regional Manager
Andritz Automation is currently seeking a Regional Manager to establish a new location in Mobile, AL. The successful candidate will be committed to the expansion and success of our business by servicing our existing Southeastern US Pulp & Paper customers while establishing a presence and acquiring new business. This is an excellent opportunity for a Pulp & Paper engineering specialist with an entrepreneurial spirit who’s looking for a new and exciting challenge.
Principal Duties
Responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the day-to-day activities and operations of the office
- Consult and negotiate with customers to prepare specifications, explain proposals, and present engineering reports
- Recruit personnel and oversee development and maintenance of staff competence in required areas
- Assign, coordinate, and review the technical work of project teams
- Participate directly in the design, development, and inspection of technical projects
- Assist the Sales Team in assessing the local market and identifying current and prospective sales opportunities
- Financial control and accountability of the regional office budget
- Acts as the point of contact for customers in the area and addresses requests and/or satisfaction issues promptly and efficiently
- Networks with industry groups and professional organizations to establish the presence and reputation of the company in the area.
Qualifications
When selecting candidates, we look for the following:
- Relevant bachelor’s degree in engineering or diploma in technology
- Extensive experience (minimum of 9 years) in engineering, including supervisory experience
- Pulp and paper industry experience; solid understanding of the pulping process
- Process Control System (PCS) experience with DCS and PLCs a definite asset
- Customer driven and a strong relationship builder
- Resourceful, self-managed, and results driven with the ability to work effectively in a team
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, and technical writing skills
- Ability to travel (20%) to domestic and international sites; valid driver’s license and passport required.
