Agenda 2020 Hosts All-Members’ Meeting

Agenda 2020 hosted an all-members meeting on Dec. 6, 2016, at the offices of the American Forest and Paper Association in Washington, D.C., USA. About 25 members and guests attended the meeting and another dozen participated by phone. It was the third such session of 2016.

CEO Karen Fletcher spoke to the group about Rapid Advancement of Process Intensification Deployment (RAPID), a project of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (see related article, this website).  Agenda 2020 plans to participate as a premier member of the RAPID institute.

AF&PA staffers Paul Noe, Jerry Schwartz, and Stan Lancey also addressed the group.  Paul Noe, VP-Public Policy, addressed the regulatory and legislative outlook affecting the industry in the coming administration. Jerry Schwartz, senior director-Energy & Environment, presented progress and plans for AF&PA’s Better Practices-Better Planet project. The program is closely aligned with Agenda 2020’s objectives of developing more efficient and more sustainable manufacturing technology as well as new products from renewable biomaterials.  Stan Lancey, chief economist, showed published data on industry production and capacity.

The five Agenda 2020 action teams presented status and plans for 2017 to implement the technology roadmaps published earlier this year. The roadmaps are available for download from the Agenda 2020 website.

The next all-members meeting will be held March 23, 2017, at Auburn University.
