Suzano Increases Pulp Prices in N.A., Europe, China
Suzano Papel e Celulose, São Paulo, Brazil, has announced an increase in the price list of short fiber cellulose for three markets—North America, Europe, and China. The new prices will become effective Jan. 1, 2017.
In North America, the list price will be $860/metric ton. In Europe, the price will be $680/metric ton, and in China it will be $570/metric ton. "Suzano believes that the fundamentals of the market at the moment support this," the company said in a statement.
For China, the company announced two price increases in the second half of 2016. On Oct. 1, 2016, Suzano raised the Chinese price to $530/metric ton, and this was adjusted to $550/metric ton on December 1.
Fibria, Suzano''s competitor, also made two adjustments to the Chinese market, reaching $550/metric ton on Dec. 1, 2016. Also in early December, the company reported an increase to $680/metric ton in Europe and to $860 per ton in the U.S., effective Jan. 1, 2017.
