IBBC 2017 Gives Students Industry Exposure

Attention Students: Gain Industry Exposure and Input at IBBC 2017. Submit Your Abstract by Friday, April 28.

The IBBC 2017 Conference Planning Committee invites students to be part of this year’s IBBC Student Poster Session and Competition by sharing their bioenergy and/or bioproducts research projects with the industry. This is a great opportunity for each selected student to gain invaluable exposure and industry input. They also have a chance to win some cash. To be considered, students must submit their abstract by Friday, April 28.

IBBC 2017, TAPPI’s International Bioenergy and Bioproducts Conference, will be held on Nov. 7-9, 2017, in Norfolk, Va., IBBC is considered the premier technical event for individuals dedicated to advancing biorefineries in the forest products industry. The conference theme for 2017 is Innovations in Bioproducts & Bioeconomy.

IBBC focuses on new technologies using renewable materials from biomass to produce chemicals and fuels to support the growing bioeconomy. Student technical posters addressing the following topics are suggested:

Supply and Demand of Woody and Non-woody Biomass
Collecting, Harvesting ,and Preparation of Biomass
Torrefaction and Wood Pellets
Thermochemical and Biochemical Conversion Pathways
Production of High Value Biochemicals and Bioproducts from Biomass
Pilot Plant/Technology Demonstration -Case Studies
Techno-Economic and Life Cycle Assessments of Biorefinery Pathways
Policies & Initiatives for Advancing Biorefinery Projects.

Students interested in presenting should upload their abstract to TAPPI’s Speaker Management System by April 28, 2017.

Students will also be part of the IBBC 2017 Rapid Fire Showcase, where presenters get 5 min. to present 5 slides summarizing the research that they are working on. Conference attendees interested in subjects presented during the rapid-fire oral session can then visit the accompanying poster and have a more in-depth discussion during the student poster session and competition. This format offers greater exposure to presenters, as well as gives attendees a snapshot into the wide variety of research being conducted in the biorefinery arena.
