Final Rule on National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Kraft Mills

American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), Washington, D.C., USA, President and CEO Donna Harman this week issued the following statement regarding the final rule on National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Kraft pulp mills, issued under the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Residual Risk and Technology Review process.

"The EPA’s final rule confirming that the 2001 maximum achievable control technology (MACT) protects public health underscores the value of our industries’ investment in and commitment to air quality and sustainability. Pulp mill operations can now move forward with certainty, knowing that investments of more than $1.5 billion in state-of-the-art, emission reduction controls and technologies are effectively reducing emissions."
