Metsä Tissue Invests in New AfH Line at Raubach Mill
Metsä Tissue, Finland, is investing in a new production line for hand towels at its Raubach mill in Germany. The total investment is approximately EUR 10 million and the new production line for Away-from-Home (AfH) products will be operative by the end of 2018.
"The demand for tissue papers is expected to continue steady in all market areas. With this investment, we want to strengthen our capacity and market position, especially in the West European AfH markets. Raubach mill is conveniently located for serving the continental customers, and with this investment, we can ensure prompt deliveries of our Katrin tissue products also going forward," said Juha Tilli, SVP, AfH.
"This investment is great news to our mill, and a sign of Metsä Group’s will to further develop the mill. The new production line helps us to stay competitive and operate efficiently also going forward. It also means that we will most likely be able to make some recruitments at the end of this year, which is also good news to Raubach community," said Markus Claaßen, mill manager, Raubach.
Metsä Tissue is part of the Metsä Group, one of the largest forest industry groups in the world. "In Metsä Tissue, we strive to minimize the environmental impacts of our operations and products throughout their life cycle. We operate close to our customers, and this way of working helps us to minimize the transportation distances and the related emissions," Tilli said. "One crucial factor for getting this investment to Raubach mill was the approval for the new logistic center we got from the municipal councils of Hanroth and Raubach in 2017."
