Lignin Continues to be a Hot Topic at IBBC Breakfast Discussions
Lignin is an attractive raw material perfect for value-added product development. Its organic and renewable nature, along with an affordable price, makes it attractive for aging pulp and paper mills looking to diversify their product portfolios. Biorefineries also look toward value-added co-products from lignin and bio-oil to help make their emerging biofuel/bioenergy technologies more cost effective.
The highly popular Hot Topics Breakfast sessions give attendees the opportunity to engage in peer discussions on the industry’s latest technical and production developments as well as operational problems. Open to all conference attendees, these breakfast gatherings allow people with similar interests to discuss relevant topics. The Breakfast sessions will be held on both Tuesday, October 30th and Wednesday, October 31st and, in addition to lignin, include topics such as bleach plant scale control, nonwoods, bleach plant optimization, black liquor firing techniques, APPTI alliance overview, tariff impacts, increasing kiln reliability, reductions efficiency measurements, improving kraft pulping/pulp yield, O2 delignification optimization/benchmarking, keeping composure during difficult situations, and water handling (non-boiler) corrosion.
In addition to the Hot Topics Breakfasts, IBBC offers a peer-reviewed, technical program focused on the latest breakthroughs and technologies in bioenergy and bioproducts. Session topics include biorefinery infrastructure, lignin, value-added products, torrefaction and densification, and nanotechnology. IBBC also offers a Rapid Fire Showcase where students defend their poster presentations. Attendees will also enjoy multiple networking opportunities where they can mingle with peers, building new business relationships and strengthening old ones.
