Resolute Forest Products (Montreal, Que, Canada) informed North American customers that it will increase softwood and hardwood kraft market pulp prices, effective October 1, according to a report by RISI (Boston, Mass., USA) and their industry contacts from Sept. 25, 2018.

Resolute announced northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) at $1,430 per metric ton, up $20 per ton vs. its last announced price of $1,410 per metric ton. Resolute, which didn’t state how much its price is to rise month-over-month, last announced a price increase on August business.

A $1,430 per metric ton list price on NBSK is to the same level competitors Canfor Pulp and Domtar separately announced to North American buyers, but their hikes were effective with September business
