Zanders Introduces Zangrass Sustainable Paper for Packaging
Zanders (Glandbach, Germany) introduced Zangrass on Sept. 25, 2018 as an uncoated grass paper with a special tactile feel, that was developed especially for sustainable packaging.
"Each sheet is unique" – like no other paper, according to Zanders, Zangrass offers a natural, heterogeneous look with fine grass dots on a greenish-beige basic tone. It's 20 to 40% virgin fibers of sun-dried grass that are being used for the new quality. The rest consists of bleached fresh fiber pulp. The optical and tactile natural character of Zangrass is topped off by the uncoated, textured surface. At the same time, the quality has very good stability and processing properties and can be used for flexo printing.
From fruit bowls and vegetable trays in the form of corrugated cardboard to reusable paper carrier bags up to applications in the field of natural cosmetics: Zangrass is mainly used in the segment of organic and natural products. Not only does it transport the message of naturalness and sustainability on the outside but is also produced environmentally friendly. Up to 75% of CO₂ emissions can be saved in the process chain for the production of the grass paper in comparison to pure fiber-based papers and and also the water consumption is lower. Furthermore, Zangrass is completely recyclable and compostable. Currently, the new paper is available in the grammages of 120 gsm and 150 gsm. An expansion of the product range to lighter and heavier weights is already planned so that Zangrass can be used for diverse applications in the future.
