Western Pulp Products Storage Facilities Destroyed by Fire
The Progress (Jacksonville, Tex., USA) local newspaper reported during the summer (Aug. 18, 2018) that the town's paper company, Western Pulp Products, had its storage facilities catch on fire causing damage that likely impacts the company to a significant degree going forward into the final quarter of this year.
The Progress indicated that approximately 20,000 sq. feet of 70,000 sq. feet of storage housing dedicated to the company's corrugated and paperboard products were completely destroyed by flames. The fire was described as being extremely large due to the dense paper contents and a significant loss of product is likely. The blaze was primarily located in the eastern portion of the company building which was the area filled with paperboard packing materials. Company products were highly compacted within a type of bale that further proved extremely difficult to extinguish once the flames began to spread there.
